At Victor Nitu DDS, we have taken measures to provide quality service for the whole family. We provide preventive services and treatment options to help each member of your family have the dental care they need. Our preventive care is designed with you in mind.
Our preventive services include:
Professional dental cleanings should be part of your hygiene routine, we recommend the average patient be seen for a dental cleaning at least twice a year. This is an important step in your preventive oral routine. We use these professional cleaning appointments to remove hardened tartar and to evaluate the health of your gums. Tracking and measuring your gum pockets tells us the status of your gum tissue and if it is supporting your teeth correctly.
Following your dental cleaning, at least once a year, Victor Nitu, DDS will want to see you for a dental exam. This appointment is highly important to your oral health. We use this time to look for problems, including problems that the patient may be entirely unaware of. Problems including decay, the development of disease, the improper growth of a tooth, and more.
Oral cancer can strike silently, and though there are some risk factors that can increase the odds, anyone can develop it. Oral cancer screenings are performed during your routine dental exam. We visually look for possible signs, which you might otherwise never notice. This can include changes to your tissue’s texture, the development of lumps or bumps, changes in coloring and more. Finding these symptoms early helps to increase the chances of successful treatment.
Creating a relationship between our office and your child with dentistry for kids can play a crucial role in your child's long term oral health. From helping your child feel more comfortable at the dentist, to teaching important oral health skills and looking for potential problems to be corrected, the work we can provide your child is valuable. We ask that parents make oral healthcare a normal part of their upbringing and create a brushing routine part of their daily routine. Scheduling regular appointments allows us to monitor the development of their oral health.
As your child grows older, we can establish a strong foundation for their oral health, one that will ensure a lifetime of healthy, beautiful teeth.
Your periodontal tissue is the pink gum tissue that supports your teeth. This tissue is just as important as your teeth. A bacterial infection known as periodontal disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in the United States. During your cleaning appointment, we will evaluate the health of your gums and provide cleaning tips to help reduce the incidence of infection if followed.
Mouth guards, sometimes referred to as sports guards, can protect your teeth, and even reduce the severity of a concussion if worn correctly and fitted properly. At Victor Nitu DDS, we encourage our patients to be active, and can create a mouth guard to protect their teeth while playing. Mouth related injuries is the most common sports related injury reported. If you participate in physical activities that put you at risk for dental trauma or injury, we strongly recommend a mouth guard.
Waking up with a sore jaw is more than just irritating, it could be a symptom of bruxism. Bruxism is a condition that includes the grinding or clenching of your teeth, most often while you sleep. As a result, severe tooth damage can occur, leaving you with significant pain in the morning, or even broken teeth. We can help to alleviate the symptoms of bruxism with a mouth guard.
Our jaw joint is known by the long name of temporomandibular joint, or more simply the TMJ. This joint is the jaw hinge, that allows us to move our jaw up and down, forwards, backward, and side-to-side. Alignment issues can prevent us from using this joint properly, this is known as TMD or temporomandibular joint disorders. We can evaluate the disorder and create a plan to correct the issue while also alleviating immediate discomfort.
